Color Washed
& Distressed Letter
What you will need:
1. Plastic bowl
2. Craft paint, definitely gold and black then your choice for the base
color. Blue and green are some of my favorites to use with this technique!
3. Cheap paintbrush, and a dry bristle brush (like you would use to stain
except very small and the cheap ones work the best)
4. Paper towels
Step 1:
You will need to put water in your plastic bowl, a little goes a long way.
Step 2:
Next put some of your craft paint in the water. It really does not matter how much you use, it will just vary how blue your letter is.
Step 3:
You will need to make sure that you start with a completely solid white letter, matte finish. Paint your letter with the watered down paint mixture and just a regular paintbrush.
Step 4:
Use a paper towel to soak up the extra water. This will not completely take the paint off, just make it a lighter color, and it should look like the picture below.
Step 5:
I used the distressing technique with my gold paint. This was done with a bristle brush. Always remember to start with a small amount on your brush and even wipe it on a paper towel before letting it come close to the letter, because you can always add more.
Step 6:
Repeat step 5 with dark brown paint.
